first_imgEURO 2016: Shay Given has revealed his burning desire to play in another European Championship before he hangs up his gloves.Shay GivenGiven played in EURO 2012 – but retired a couple of months after the tournament ended.However, he returned in August last year when Martin O’Neill recalled him for a match against Oman in August. Given has since wrestled the No.1 jersey from David Forde and will start in tonight’s crunch match against Germany tonight.Ireland currently lie four point ahead of Scotland with two games left to play.Ireland face Germany tonight, before travelling to Poland on Sunday.Given feels it’s now or never in terms of Ireland’s hopes of qualification and says worrying about how Scotland perform is not an option. Given says he and his teammates are fully focused on getting the necessary points required in order to qualify.A famous win tonight would secure at the very least a play-off spot for the Euro’s in France next summer.Given said, “I haven’t got much time left and so it probably would be my last championship.“It will be a great tournament. It’s so close for the fans, a quick hop, skip and a jump across the Channel.“It’s between ourselves and Scotland for third place,” says Given, “unless we win our last two games and finish with automatic qualification, but that’s a big ask. “We are four points clear of Scotland, but they have Gibraltar in their last game and will definitely get three points there, which cuts the gap to one point, so it will go down to the wire.“We’ve got two crunch games, however we look at it, and a short turn around from Thursday to Sunday.
